Well at 20/ΙΔ.
No POU fill. Bottom packed with sherds, including roof-tile fragments. Above this, were six meters with a "fair quantity" of sherds; then the top meter and a half contained a great quantity ... Ca. 420-390 B.C ... (Note the palmette lekythos-from the middle part of the fill-Apart from this, characteristic end of 5th c., though mostly coarse.. |
The almost complete red figure hydria set into this cutting suggests the possibility of a 5th c. burial put into a much earlier grave cutting; however, the remainder of the filling appears thoroughly disturbed ... 450-425 B.C- Late Roman disturbance ... For possible burials in this area cf. also the white ground lekythos P 6052, Γ 1754, Volume XXX, p. 2064. |
