About half of rim restored. Flat resting surface; abrupt transition from foot to slightly pointed underside. Convex wall with pronounced offset below rim. Narrow rim slopes down to inside. Mended from fifteen fragments, with small pieces missing; burned. Slightly raised base with string marks. Wall slightly concave. Handles tightly folded. Hard, light reddish brown fabric (5YR 6/4); handles ... 325-300 ... Nearly identical: P 28559 (from same pyre), P 20146 (Young 1951b, no. 12:7, p. 128, pl. 53:c [B 17:5]).

Intact save for end of nose and ancient chip from right ear and recent chips from hair and left ear. Socket for fitting into body rough-picked; carried up high in back of neck. Hair in marked waves above ... Julio-Claudian period ... Thompson's account attached to the card: Found in the S.E. corner of the east stoa of the Commercial Agora, immediately north of the Church of the Holy Apostles, in a level of the second half of the 3rd c. A.D. The head is worked with a short tenon for insertion in a draped statue. ...
