[Agora Object] A 1378: Fence Cap

One original end remains with dowel hole. Triangular in section with truncated sides. Hard gray poros, hammer dressed on all faces. Good work. Same series as A 194, from Eponymous Heroes. Found at I/14-10/10 ... 13 May 1948 ... Hard gray poros, hammer dressed on all faces. Good work. Same series as A 194, from Eponymous Heroes ... Found in a late Roman level at S.W. corner of section, 15.00m. east of south end of peribolos and placed in peribolos.

A report on the 1951 excavations presented at the Open Meeting of the ASCSA, March 20, 1952. Field work was concentrated in the market place proper, and large areas in the west, north central and southeastern parts were cleared down to the early Roman level. New topographical discoveries were made, among them a temple of the early Roman period, and new information was gained regarding previously known monuments such as the Peribolos of the Twelve Gods, the Temple of Ares and the Middle Stoa.

[Agora Report] 1952 Excavations Ε, Η, Ν

Sections Ε, Ν, Η 1952 ... Homer A. Thompson ... Mycenaean graves were excavated in section Ε. Section Ν was disturbed by late pits, bothroi and walls. Excavation was carried out through Roman levels. The area seemed to have been leveled out and raised ... 4 Mar-31 May 1952 ... A Mycenaen tomb was excavated. Work in section Η was confined to cleaning in and around the large late Roman building covering most of the section. A Mycenaen well was found as well as a fine Archaic altar and peribolos. A series of monument bases, lining the east band of the Great Drain, were examined.
