Shoulder fragment. Dull black glaze on inside. Glaze pitted and abraded in places. Max. dim. 0.152. Schleiffenbaum, Volutenkrater, p. 322, cat. no. V 198. Youth (head with olive wreath, left shoulder ... Ca. 400 B.C ... Close to the Talos Painter, if not by him. For lines across the forehead of a figure in frontal or three-quarter view, a sign of stress, see Naples 2045 = 2883, connected with the Pronomos Painter and the Talos Painter: two giants, one stooping to pick up a big stone, the other hurling one (ARV2 1338, ---; Paralip. 481, ---; Addenda 366) and Tübingen S./10 1568 = E 160, near the Talos Painter (ARV2 1339, 1; Addenda 367), now attributed to the painter himself (Paralip. 481); several of the figures on Würzburg H 5708, near the Talos Painter (ARV2 1339, 5). ... Hera on the namepiece of the Talos Painter, Ruvo, Jatta 1501 (ARV2 1338, ---, 1; Paralip. 481, ---, 1; Addenda 366).

Wall fragment. Max. dim. 0.059. R. S. Young, Hesperia 20, 1951, pl. 80:3. Youth (head and neck) to right. In front of him is a column. At the very top there is a bit of relief contour indicating the ... Ca. 400 B.C ... Dilute glaze: central flute of column; iris and upper lid of youth, down along his jaw. The Talos Painter (ARV2 1339, 5).

Wall fragment. Female figure wearing a thin chiton, fastened on each shoulder by a jeweled clasp, and a necklace, stands looking right, body turned slightly to right. In the field at right, two white ... 31 January 1931 ... Drapery folds shaded with brown. Talos painter.

Wall fragment from lower part. P.H. 0.209; P.W. 0.155. Warriors (part of legs of each): lower part of short chiton and round shield (seen in three-quarter view) of left, part of chlamys of right, who ... Ca. 400 B.C ... Beazley, in an oral communication reported by Bakalakis (AK 14, 1971, p. 76), saw the stylistic relationship with the Talos Painter, and Bakalakis (p. 77) pointed to specific details on the namepiece and on 388. Cf. also Amsterdam inv. 2474, a fragmentary loutrophoros by the Talos Painter (ARV2 1339, 4; Addenda 367).
