Clearing bedrock on line of early (Archaic) peribolos wall, east of entrance on the south side, west end. Uncatalogued material: 50 sherds, 83 fragments. of plemochoai.

Exploration in the peristyle of the Heliaea (1960); evidence for rebuilding in the third quarter of the 4th c. B.C. with some disturbance as late as 1st-2nd c. A.D. Date of reconstruction ca. 325 B.C ... Ca. 350- 325 B.C ... Three areas included:
a) Deep stony fill in middle of peristyle (p. 3471) and from clearing trench of inner rectangle in peristyle court (p. 3551).
b) Footing trench of SE pier of peristyle (p. 3468) and footing trench of second pier from west in south aisle (p. 3469).
c) Other areas, period of peristyle (pp. 3461, 3463, 3465, 3557). |
Dromos of a Mycenaean Tomb at N end of Stoa Terrace (Burial 3). No remains. Perhaps to be associated with dromos of a Mycenaean chamber tomb (?) observed in this area (XIV, p. 2707).
Tomb found when workmen ... Myc. III A ... Tomb found when workmen were clearing the bottom stratum of the foundations of the Stoa colonnade at its northern end. |
