Beazley (Some Attic Vases in the Cyprus Museum [Proceedings of the British Academy 33], London 1948, p. 30) restored the main inscription as it is given above ("loving cup") and remarked that the style of drawing is similar to that of Boston, M.F.A. 10.193, which praises Athenodotos and recalls the early work of Douris (ARV2 1567, 12; Paralip. 506).
