The head broken off just above the base of the neck; the (raised) right arm, made separately and attached, missing, and the upper part of the cloak, held by the right arm, is broken away. Part of the left ... Middle of 2nd c. A.D ... The flesh surfaces at neck and shoulder are carefully finished, contrasting with the drapery; feet, hand and drapery at the back much more summary. Rasp marks prominent.

[Agora Object] S 399: Base with Relief of Charioteer, Warrior and Quadrica

The base has been hacked away on top and in the back; great, rough cuttings extend from the central rectangular cutting on the top, presumably made when the base was first cut, to support what ever stood ... 4th c. B.C ... The chariot and its passenger, however, are in more summary style: the body and arms of the charioteer are flat and poor, the transition from front view (the head and the upper part of the breast) to side aspect (the arms and the lower part of the body) has not been realized: the left shoulder is sadly out of line.
