Complete except for most of horizontal handle and part of rim and wall to right of it, the missing pieces restored in plaster and painted. Circle on underside of floor. Glaze abraded in places; completely ... Probably mid-5th century B.C ... Dilute glaze: eyebrows of owls.

Floor fragment underside scored with a spiral. Much of the glaze fired greenish. Max. dim. 0.05; est. inner diam. of tondo 0.054.
I, owl (part of head, feet missing). Around tondo, stopped-maeander pattern ... Probably third quarter of the 5th century B.C ... On each side of the exterior of this cup there are three owls. |
