The new fragments, which join the restored part of the vase, as shown in Plates 50 and 51, a, add new interest to the krater as a whole and enable us to appreciate the composition in two vital areas more fully than before. The scenes in the main zones of decoration, it will be recalled, are : A, the introduction of Herakles into Olympos; and B, the combat over the body of Patroklos.
