The handle is the colonnette krater type, the horizontal top piece being preserved except for the outer corners, of which the left has lost a fairly large piece, the right a small one ... 3 February 1932 ... The eye, eyebrow and ear, are drawn in very fine incised lines; the hair falls in a mass down the back. The male head is distinguished by black for flesh and applied red for hair (its incised outline against the face nearly straight); high bridged nose and bearded chin; coarser incision for interior drawing.
... A double line of brownish glaze frames the picture right and left; the worn inner and outer edges probably showed the same color. |
