Broken at one end in the line of a round hole. The preserved end was fitted with a loop of strap gold set through the band. Band is beaded along each edge by punching from behind.

| Broken in three fragments: at handle attachment and midway along hilt. Upper part of blade cracked. Three rivets preserved along hilt, two on widest area of blade. Seven complete studs (+one fragmentary) ... 7 July 1998 ... Seven complete studs (+one fragmentary) of which five have gold leaf wrapped around their rim are also preserved. On hilt two small fragments of gold leaf still attached.
