At center, bearded youth right, putting on greaves; facing him stands a woman dressed in a peplos and holding spear and shield; behind, a white-haired man, draped and holding staff. ... Purple for hair and beard of arming youth, top of peplos, drapery folds, shield rims, wreaths and one helmet, bands on lip, at base of neck, and below panel. White for woman's flesh, old man's hair, and dots on drapery and helmets; shield designs (one a bent leg, the other a square).

Mended from three pieces. Upper break follows line of shoulder. Scene depicts warriors in combat. From left, white-plumed warrior rushes forward. His left arm is flung back so that one sees the interior ... August-September 1932 ... His left arm is flung back so that one sees the interior of the shield with red border, suspension cord and the white thong by which it is held to the forearm (much broadened on the arm itself, perhaps a special binding). ... A herringbone is incised through the white of the plume, which ends below in a sort of square hook, mostly peeled away. ... White dots stud the base of his plume and that of the third warrior in whose carefully drawn hand the spear is balanced (his shield also red-bordered).
