Youth at tomb. The youth (head, shoulders, right arm outstretched) stands to left, dressed in a chlamys fastened ... Last quarter of the 5th century B.C ... At the left is the upper right part of a stele (top of shaft crowned by an oval flanked by akroteria). ... The shape of the stele seems to be a variant on Nakayama's B-V: pediment surmounted by an oval or palmette and flanked by side akroteria (Nakayama, Lekythen, pp. 266--268). On 856, the pediment is omitted and the oval and side akroteria rest directly on top of the shaft. |
