No period of use. Below the upper (Early Roman) dump extending down to ca. 6.10m. was a dumped fill of broken pottery in great quantity, including a high proportion of red-figured fragments. Masses of ... Ca. 430-400 B.C.
Late 1st c. B.C.-mid 1st c. A.D ... Masses of broken mud brick and numerous roof tiles show that this dump was debris from some house or shop.
Objects P 9255-P 9258, P 21333, SS 11145 are from the lower filling, but from immediately below the later drains and belong to their context.

| A well on the lower slope of the Hill of the Nymphs, (diam. 1.20m -water level -7m), to 7.90m. The scanty use filling at the bottom contained water jars and pitchers as well as the inventoried objects; ... Second quarter of 6th. c. B.C ... The scanty use filling at the bottom contained water jars and pitchers as well as the inventoried objects; above it was about 5.00m. of collapsed bedrock with no pottery whatsoever. The dumped filling, mixed with the broken bedrock above a depth of 2.40m., appears to be of the same date as the use filling, and yielded most of the inventoried objects - black figured and black glazed, as well as coarse ware, lamps, figurines, and loom weights; to be especially noted are a child's commode (P 18010, Hesp. 17 (1948), pp. 154-155), and an inscribed well head (P 18276, Hesp. 18 (1949), p. 125, no. 7). |

Well on Slopes of Kolonos, apparently with two periods of active service. The earlier dating from ca. the turn of the era well down into the 1st c. A.D. Probable that the well was never cleaned out in ... POU Early to second half 1st c. A.D ... A.D., began later use in Byzantine times and finally filled with earth and rubbish.

The cist measures 1,90m E to W, 0.75-0.90m N to S, max. depth -1.30m. Nothing was found in it; cleaned in modern times and used as a cesspool. Some of the SW part of it had ... Myc. IIIA, early 14th c ... A terracotta Roman drain cuts across the chamber from SE to NW and its bottom is slightly below the floor of the chamber.
The objects were found lying on or just above the floor of the chamber, close to the wall. |
