Nose chipped; otherwise intact except for minor chips. Portrait of middle-aged man with close-trimmed beard and mustache. Hair simply treated and cap-like except for locks falling over forehead. Elsewhere the texture is suggested by shallow furrows made with a gouge driven in a vertical direction behind the ears, in a horizontal direction on the sides and top of the head. ... The texture of the beard has been indicated by means of shallow working with gouge and point. A bridge of marble between lower lip and chin presumably represents a goatee.
