One-piece jar; plain rim, flaring ring foot. Dilute wash outside; dark brown glaze on inside of rim, for bands down handles, at shoulder and around foot. The kados shape, common in cooking ware, Pl. 65, ... Context ca. 520-480 B.C ... The careful finish of 1455 might suggest some special use, for instance as a measure; but this piece is unglazed inside and the contents, to the brim, are no more than 5.5 liters, nearly a liter short of a dichous of ca. 6.4 liters.

The depicted figure (legs missing below the thighs, and back chipped) faces right toward a wool-basket set at right angles to him. A small bit of a wing(?) is preserved just above the small of his back ... 1 May 1933 ... No relief contours; white for his double wreath and for the contents of the basket.

In front of her is Dionysos (lower part of ... Ca. 440-430 B.C ... In front of her is Dionysos (lower part of himation and chiton) also to right but probably looking back, holding his kantharos in his right hand, spilling its contents on the ground.

Mended from many pieces; fragments missing from walls, foot and rim; restored in plaster. At the top of the figured zone, below the lip, a vine-dot border. Sides A and B the same: in the center, Dionysos(?) ... August-September 1932 ... White for Dionysos' fillet, spots on his garment and couch and the contents of the cornucopiae.

Ring foot, heavy rounded body; inside, thin streaky glaze. The base preserved complete, and about half the figured panel on the front of the body. The panel bordered by reserved line at the left and by ... 4 April 1935 ... A trace of white shows that the contents of the tray were rendered in the same manner as the drapery of the statue.

Mycenaean skyphos; foot and other parts missing. Buff clay, with dark slip on interior. Exterior: band about mouth and simple one underneath handles. Slip on handle. ADDENDA 2018: Frag. b, one rim sherd ... LH IIIC Early ... In the interior of the base there is a heavy degree of use-wear caused by scraping out the lowest contents. There are no traces of burning.

Medicine Bottle. Handle and half of neck and mouth missing. Flat base with string marks. Irregular, barrel-shaped body with slightly angular shoulder. Short, thick neck; plain, slightly outturned rim ... Context of late 1st century B.C. and 1st century after Christ ... The inscription seems to confirm that the reason for the stamp was to guarantee the contents. The name Νικι'ας occurs also on medicine bottles of other shapes (IG XIV 2406:4b; Calvet 1982, p. 282; Ephesos IX, ii/ii, O 27, pp. 149, 152, pl. 214) and, according to Virginia Grace, on bottles in the Benaki collection and from the island of Rhodes (Benaki M 3; MS 555--557, 564) naming Νικι'ας τοῦ Θευδο'του.

Several pieces, including chunks from sides and rim, missing. Flat bottom; straight sides; flat-topped projecting rim. Orange-buff clay. Light slip. Surface much worn. On side wall, just below rim, a ... 9-12 February 1937 ... ": Among the great variety of late Hellenistic vases mended during the winter from the contents of a cistern found on the North Slope of the Areopagus (cistern at 75/ΟΑ) is one piece of peculiar interest.

Six non-joining fragments, a of rim, neck, shoulder, and start of one handle column, b + d of shoulder with swelling for handle root and part of wall, c, f, and g of wall. Glaze dull in places on outside; ... Ca. 480 B.C ... Furthermore, the trough would not empty its contents into a vat in which a satyr is treading grapes.
