For the white pilos, there is a good parallel on Tübingen S/10 1568 i = E 162, a fragmentary loutrophoros by the Kleophon Painter (ARV2 1147, 55; Addenda 335; Matheson, p. 418, cat. no. ... This is an attractive idea but may not be correct, since a young rider on another loutrophoros fragment in Tübingen wears a white petasos, a hat that surely was not made of metal (S/10 1649 = E 168: CVA, pl. 7 [2524]:5).
