| Description: | Two fragments of a colossal draped female figure. a) The lower part, wearing long closed peplos; cloak at back; looped folds of overfall preserved on left side. Weight rests on right leg; left relaxed forward. Feet broken away. Much battered, a bit burned and covered with lime. b) Upper part of torso. Back broken away entirely; traces on front of curve of peplos. Oval cutting at top for head; square cutting on left side for arm. Fine work. Apparently a cult statue. Pentelic marble. | |
