| Description: | Life-size. Broken behind. Fragment from the head of a man, facing left with the paw of a lion gripping him from behind and above. The outer part of the lion's paw was worked in a separate piece and attached by means of a cemented bronze dowel. The hair on the top of the man's head is rendered by stippling in red paint; around the edge a triple band of snail-shell curls; the nape of the neck bare. The paw and the claw of the lion worked with great delicacy. Pentelic marble, milky white, much laminated . | |
