| Description: | Fragment from upper wall, with start of rim, broad reserved band at junction of rim and wall; laurel wreath above. Two Amazons driving, or riding, left; two female figures similarly dressed: thin chiton fastened on the left shoulder, leaving the right breast bare; close fitting cap with flying ends, covered with large dots of white, yellowed over; white bead necklace, and bracelet. One is seem slightly in front of the other; both are posed with right arm front of the other; both are posed with right arm outstretched, left arm drawn back, as if driving, or riding. In front of them, also left are the heads of two bridled horses, the father reserved, with white dots of his bridle; the nearer white, with elaborate overpainting in yellow. Careful relief contours. The ladies have brown, corkscrew curls. Faint traces of pink, as well as of yellow, over the ornaments on their headdresses. | |
