Similar to P 8862 (Γ 2299); much smaller and more nearly round, with wide thickened rim (on the outside), very slightly flaring. Same fabric as P 8863. Burning inside. Probably wheelmade and then distorted. ADDENDA P 8862: Large domed cover, elliptical at the rim, shaped like a cowbell; basket handle on the top, running with the major axis of the pot. Rim very slightly rolled outward. Coarse red cooking-pot clay with white grits, gray in places. Cf. Agora XII, no. 2021. | |
