| Description: | Mended from many pieces; a few fragments from rim and wall missing, and about half of the lid. a) Round-bodied pot with small flattened bottom and two pierced lug handles (one missing), at the rim. In handle zone a row of stamped concentric circles, made by pressing the end of a tube into the clay. Below, front and back, parallel incised vertical lines, with horizontal hatching to right and left: diagonal arm-like lines on each side at top. Between, four rows of stamped circles, single, double, double, over single. Vertical hatching around bottom. b) Convex dome-like lid with high columnar handle, ending in a flat knob. Pierced lugs. Vertical hatching around edge. At center of each side, an incised vertical line, with diagonal hatching; double impressed circle to each side. Another on top of handle, and hatching on outer face of knob. Soft brown-buff clay with gray buff surface. Handmade. | |
