| Title: | Red Figure Cup Fragments: Type B | |
| Category: | Pottery | |
| Description: | Seven joining and two non-joining fragments of a very shallow cup with plain rim. A trace of the spring of the stem preserved beneath, and part of one handle attachment. Inside, medallion bordered by stopped maeander interrupted by checkerboard squares. At right, a hawk on the wing, holding in his beak and claws a snake. Below, marsh plants, very lightly incised. To the left, a human knee(?) and, above, part of an olive branch (or crown?). Very fine relief contours recalling the Eretria painter. The snake was painted in an added color, now gone. | |
