| Description: | Base, half of body and portion of rim missing. Mended from several fragments. Partly restored in plaster. Three loose fragments. Round-bodied vessel, with low wide neck and everted lip. Two small holes pierced through the rim, probably opposite another pair on the missing rim section. Wide band of geometric ornament around body: oblique lines framed by oblique zigzags; dogs' teeth below, zigzags above. Good dull black glaze. Fine dark buff Attic clay. Addenda July 2024: One body fragment added from Lot ΒΕ 2433. Late Protogeometric–Early Geometric I. According to Papadopoulos and Smithson, multiple zones of decoration are typical of Early Geometric I examples (Agora XXXVI, p. 770–771). | |
