| Description: | Mended from many pieces, parts of neck and walls and of one horizontal handle restored in plaster. Small ring foot; globular body; flaring mouth; thick band handle from rim; rolled horizontal handles. An octopus motive is repeated three times on the shoulder, twice upright, once sideways; on the lower wall, groups of narrow bands. Rim, handles, base of neck and foot glazed. Buff clay and surfacing. Glaze dark to very light brown, considerably worn. The suckers on the tentacles of the octopus are indicated in white. A small hole (Diam. ca. 0.005m.) was bored through the floor and the ring foot of the vase, directly at the center front, before firing. | |
