Title:   Black Figure Plate

Description:   Two joining fragments preserve about one-quarter of plain rim and bit of floor; nothing of foot [Max. Dim. 0.11; Est. Diam. (rim) 0.18].
Single scrolls and heart-shaped leaves in black glaze on rim; leaf and scroll(?) also on floor; a band at junction of rim and floor.
Pinkish-buff clay. Good black glaze on bottom, and covering edge of rim.
ADDENDA Joining fragments (Π 982) found in 1967 almost complete plate: H. 0.31; Diam. 0.177. Floral design of tendrils and ivy leaves. The center is decorated with two circles of egg-shaped blobs and two lines. Black glazed outside with a reserved line where the foot meets the body. Inside of foot, reserved with two concentric black circles around glaze dot. Two small holes in the rim, presumably for hanging.
Context:   Turkish fill. In 1967 fragments found in cut along east wall of East Building ca. 13.50-17.50m. from south end over cobbled surface.
