| Description: | Several joining fragments give the full circumference of the lid and much of the sides; the top missing, except for the knob, non-joining, about half preserved. Domed lid with narrow downturned edge; large conical knob; a projecting edge at its tip broken away. Decoration red and white over black glaze. On the rim a row of dots; around the knob, large rays. From rays to rim, banded decoration over black: a red band bordered by white lines; white dot rosettes at intervals on the red; further out, a narrow band of turret pattern, white; at the edge a second red band with white borders and rosettes. The knob glazed black except on underside; at the top, between two sets of three narrow white bands, a band of white pendent petals; at the bottom, a broad red band with three narrow white above and below; traces of a rosette over the red. Buff clay with occasional large bits. | |
