| Description: | Intact. Jar on high flaring ring foot; globular body; rim flat on top, with two pierced projecting lugs. High domed lid with a flat-topped knob made in two degrees. Plain rim with two pierced projecting lugs matching those on the jar. The neck, lower body and foot of the jar glazed; the upper body reserved and decorated with a broad checkerboard band below a narrow zigzag. The patterns set off by narrow bands; two narrow bands below the checkerboard. Unglazed inside. The lid glazed outside, except the knob: banded, and with a St. Andrew's cross(?) on its top. A zone of pendent triangles, reserved, below the knob; further down, a reserved zone in which is a pair of glazed bands. Glaze dull black to brown and purplish; somewhat worn. | |
