Title:		Black Figure Child's High-Chair
Category:		Pottery
Description:		Profile complete; missing fragments restored in plaster. A heavy flaring base, with a rounded upper part; between the two a floor, pierced by a large hole. Carrying holes in the base, front and back. At its lower edge, to either side, a substantial lug, pierced by two holes. In the front of the upper part a large oval opening. Black-figured decoration: around the lower part of the stand, loops. On the front of the base, to either side of a floral ornament, a lion and a siren; at the back, two geese. On the upper part, palmette and lotus cross at the back; a siren to one side of the large opening. Added red; incision. Pale buff clay; the glaze fired light brown. Cf. Brussels, A 890 (from Athens), Musées Royaux de Cinquantenaire. Cf. London, BM, 1910, 6-15.4, red figure chous with similar scene. Go-cart and chous represented on floor beside chair; baby waves rattle.
